As a School Psychologist in private practice, I strongly recommend Dr. Mary Anne Larkin and her services. She has been an invaluable asset to my clients. Using the cross-battery approach to identify neurocognitive weaknesses, I have learned that many students benefit from her services. I refer students with deficits in pragmatic language, auditory working memory, long-term (verbal) memory retrieval fluency, receptive language skills, and phonological processing to Dr. Larkin. After she makes a differential diagnosis in impaired auditory pathways, she prescribes interventions that target specific weak neural pathways. I often see students making approximately two years’ academic gains during her treatment programs. Often, parents also notice marked improvements in social interactions and decreases in anxiety as their child better understands conversational speech. Of the plethora of recommendations I make, I routinely recommend that Dr. Larkin’s Auditory Processing Disorder evaluation and interventions be their first and primary intervention. I know School Psychologists and families in SC will benefit greatly from her recent move to Spartanburg.

I have noticed a significant improvement in her hearing and listening abilities and a decrease in her need for repetition and misunderstanding. Dr Larkin was able to diagnose our sons auditory processing disorder, and help us through the process of using CAPDOTS. The improvements we have seen are life changing. Before using the CAPDOTS, our son tested in the very low percentile for auditory processing far outside of the normal range for his age. After diligently going through the program, my son was tested again, and all of his test scores were in normal range. There was dramatic improvement in his hearing and listening skills, and a huge decrease in misunderstanding in communication. His attention span has increased, along with improvement in following directions and hearing in the presence of background noise. I could not recommend Dr. Larkin or the CAPDOTS program more.

We are so thankful for Dr. Larkin and her ability to accurately evaluate our child for an auditory processing disorder. Dr. Larkin worked very well with our child during the evaluation and was so helpful in explaining the details of her findings. Dr. Larkin used terms and provided examples which helped us understand the diagnosis and therapies available. As a first step, Dr. Larkin recommended CAPDOTS as an online therapy tool for us to use with our child each day. Dr. Larkin ensured CAPDOTS was functioning properly prior to us starting the therapy sessions. The program was easy to use and each session lasted approximately 30 minutes. At the completion of the program, which can take approximately 8-12 weeks, Dr. Larkin re-evaluated our child to determine if further therapy was needed. Thankfully, with the assistance of CAPDOTS, our child tested within the normal range in the follow-up evaluation. We are grateful for Dr. Larkin’s knowledge and assistance in helping us work with our child in our home to achieve a successful outcome for an auditory processing disorder.

After lots of research and lots of phone calls I reached out to Dr. Larkin, and from the very first phone call she was very informative, kind, and professional. She explained things step by step, and at the time of testing she was wonderful with my 7 year old! She got on his level,took her time with him, they even did a special handshake! She does NOT skip out or rush anything! Getting this diagnosis was big for us, and Dr. Larkin helped guide us through every step, and continues to think of us and give me new information. Dr. Larkin saw our son in February. We had been looking for someone who could help us in this field for 2 years, and there are very few people who deal with this in South Carolina. We knew that he had some sort of issue understanding sounds / words / commands. Dr. Larkin was able to quickly test / diagnose / and classify his issues. The schools just wanted to label him as a delayed child or only give him the therapies they have, but never address the real issue. The amount of strain on our family trying to figure out his issues and dealing with the all of the problems has been very trying for us, so to find someone like Dr. Larkin was very relieving. She recommended a listening device, and due to the very structured and prompt report we got from her, the schools not only provided the system, but did it timely, in two weeks!!
It was worth every bit of the drive to Mt Pleasant to see her. Also, the amount of time she spent interviewing before and explaining the results afterward is priceless to us. For the first time we are very optimistic that we are narrowing in on our son’s learning and behavior issues.
Dr. Larkin tested my son for APD. We had never even heard of this prior to someone suggesting he may have it. So we searched high and low for someone who could evaluate him. I called a dozen places and finally found Dr. Larkin. She was thorough and went through everything with us and my son. I was so glad to finally have some answers and that as a mom, wasn’t going crazy (we can all appreciate that sometimes). To be able to move forward and treat the issue was a relief. Thank you Dr. Larkin for really taking the time and evaluating every detail, it’s truly appreciated.
